Adam Kuchenreuter of Regensburg, Percussion Halfstock sporting rifle, .54 caliber, steel trigger guard with finger rest and floral hand engraved details with a small hunting scene of a seated stag, stepped lock with florally hand engraved details and matched scene of a seated stag, bolster, breach and tang all with matched scroll hand engraving as well as an unmonogrammed silver plate, engraved hammer in the style of a dragon, fabulously carved European walnut stock with patchbox and matched hand engraved details to butt plate, 27 inch octagonal barrel, deep relief Wootz-damascus pattern runs from the breach to barrel tip including the ramrod thimbles, bead sight at top with a plain sporting ramp and adjustable U notch rear folding sight, left and right barrel flats inlaid with open scroll silver work with the name "J. Adam Kuchenreuter in Regensburg" inlaid in gold at barrel center near breach. Truly an absolutely fabulous sporting rifle which once belonged to a man of extreme wealth. CONDITION:
Good action; excellent overall cosmetic condition, bright fine bore with hardly any oxidation, metal surfaces have aged a pleasing dull gray, small dings and fine scratches are scattered about walnut stock, several other small dings on barrel and sides, rear sight is slightly squint in comparison with front sights; trigger guard shows very little wear.
